Golconda: This is the ruins from the Golconda Fort. Its said to have initially been a mud fort only to be later built by stone by the Qutub Sahi's. One of the fascinating things of this fort is the intellegence used throughout to protect itself from external attack. To give you one such example, there is a place close to the Fateh Darwaza where by if a person claps, its sound can be heard about a kilometre away at the Bala Hisar pavillion, the place where the Kings would gather to work, they say it was used in those days to alert the King if any danger was near.
If you have heard the saying' Even the walls have ears' too often and didn't know what it really meant, come over here to Golconda and you can witness this fact. There is a room in the fort, where if you place your ears on one side of the room, a person speaking to the wall on the other side of the room can hear it too.
